Celebrating 20 Years at Ecosign: Emily Amirault
On April 17, 2006, Emily Amirault (née Mann) joined Ecosign Mountain Resort Planners as a Resort Planner. Over the past two decades, Emily has played a pivotal role in shaping resort communities through thoughtful, creative, and technically grounded planning. Her work spans some of the world’s most complex and high-profile mountain destinations, strengthening new, and long-standing client relations.
Emily has led major planning initiatives at Ruka, Finland since 2010, including a new village master plan, neighbourhood master planning for surrounding areas, and a municipal Nordic Centre master plan that now hosts annual World Cup events. She was also instrumental in planning Ruka’s Village-to-Village (V2V) gondola—a transformative mobility project connecting two Ecosign-planned villages.
In 2016, Emily took on the role of lead base area planner at Niseko Hanazono in Japan, completing a detailed master plan update encompassing village development, real estate, and ski area expansion. Hanazono has since become one of Japan’s most successful ski resorts, in large part due to the implementation of Ecosign’s integrated master planning vision.
Reflecting on what has shaped her career most deeply, Emily says, “I love getting to know the people, culture, food, and stories from the places all over the world that I have the privilege of visiting through Ecosign’s planning projects.” Her experience includes Olympic Winter Games Venue planning in Vancouver, Sochi, and Beijing, as well as specialized expertise in resort planning across Japan, Scandinavia, Norway, and Western Canada.
Emily thrives on tackling complex challenges—bringing creativity, efficiency, and imagination to projects ranging from sightseeing gondolas to mountain summer recreation zones. In 2022, she joined Ecosign’s Executive Team as a Principal, where her leadership, global perspective, and commitment to design excellence continue to elevate Ecosign’s work around the world.
We are proud to celebrate Emily’s 20 years at Ecosign and look forward to the continued impact of her leadership and vision in the years ahead.
