Ecosign played a pivotal role in the planning and development of the Alpine Skiing and Nordic venues for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. We also contributed to the Master Plan and detailed engineering design of the Nordic Centre.
Following the successful bid in 2003, Ecosign developed the comprehensive Olympic Master Plan for the mountain cluster area. We worked closely with VANOC (Vancouver Organizing Committee) and Whistler Blackcomb to relocate all technical events from Blackcomb Mountain to Whistler Mountain, creating a common finish area for the ten alpine skiing events. Notably, Ecosign designed the new Ladies' Downhill course, suggesting extensive grading and constructing a skier bridge to optimize the layout.
Ecosign also focused on planning the finish area, homologation of pistes, and effective transportation and parking solutions to support the events. These efforts contributed to the success of the Games and left a lasting legacy, further cementing Whistler's reputation as a world-class winter sports destination.
Additionally, as a sub-consultant to Sandwell Engineers, Ecosign helped design the Whistler Nordic Centre in the Callaghan Valley. This project included the construction of competition trails, ski jumps, and biathlon pistes, all completed by 2007. Ecosign's work ensured that the venues were well-prepared for both Olympic competition and future recreational use.
