Ecosign has been instrumental in the development of Sierra Nevada Ski Resort in Granada, Spain, since the early 1990s. Initially hired to design venues for the 1995 World Alpine Ski Championships, Ecosign was commissions to transform the resort into a world-class ski destination.
Beginning in 1990, Ecosign revitalized Sierra Nevada, designing progressive ski venues and a new urban area with 3,000 beds and a four-level parking garage for 2,900 vehicles. Completed in 1994, the renovation introduced modern amenities and enhanced skier access. Ecosign also re-engineered competition pistes and added high-speed chairlifts, improving safety and capacity.
After the 1996 Championships, Ecosign updated the master plan in 2002 and 2020, adding beginner areas and world-class freestyle venues. Today, Sierra Nevada thrives as a premier destination, hosting international events and offering exceptional experiences for skiers worldwide.
90-96
In preparation for the 1996 FIS World Skiing Championships, Ecosign was hired in 1990 to design new venues and renovate the Sierra Nevada ski area. This included new detachable chairlifts, a 12-passenger gondola, and reconfiguring competition pistes for safety and excitement. Ecosign also designed a new urban area, adding 3,000 beds atop a four-level parking garage for 2,900 vehicles. Construction was completed in 1994, and the development has since been highly successful, boosting the resort's capacity and profitability while supporting skier access.
03-04
Ecosign updated the Master Plan to expand the ski area, design new lift terminals, and propose a second "upper" village with 2,800 beds and additional skier facilities.
2019 +
In 2019, Ecosign proposed a Master Plan update, focusing on developments in the Prado Redondo area and enhancing connectivity between villages. Our team continues working on projects for Sierra Nevada Ski Resort including new lifts, pistes, and village enhancements. All our designs balance an increase in skier capacity while supporting the resort's growth.
