Río Villegas Argentina
Ecosign was commissioned to conduct a Technical Assessment and Feasibility Study for a high-end, four-season mountain resort in Rio Villegas, Patagonia, Argentina. Covering 6,000 hectares, the project aimed to create South America’s first world-class, ski-in/ski-out resort village on privately held land, avoiding the restrictions of national park development.
Ecosign's comprehensive analysis included topographic mapping, terrain capacity, solar shading, and slope gradient studies, confirming the site’s excellent snow retention and suitability for alpine skiing. Ecosign proposed two development concepts, each featuring extensive lift systems, beginner terrain, and ski facilities capable of supporting thousands of skiers daily.
The plan calls for an eco-friendly village built with local materials, minimal vehicle traffic, and ample real estate, accommodating up to 16,050 beds. Estimated capital costs for the ski infrastructure range from $87.5 to $91.6 million USD, with skier carrying capacities of 4,000 to 12,000.
Ecosign's assessment highlighted Rio Villegas’ exceptional potential to attract high-end Brazilian and Argentine skiers, currently traveling to North America and Europe. With detailed planning and financial analysis, the project is considered technically feasible and primed to become a premier alpine destination in South America.
