Ecosign, commissioned by Melco Resorts in 2007, developed a Master Plan for Yabuli Sun Mountain Resort, China’s leading ski destination. Our phased plan proposed expanding infrastructure to increase skier capacity, and to introduce year-round activities that would reinforce Yabuli as a premier international resort.

Ecosign was commissioned in 2007 by Melco Resorts Ltd. to develop a comprehensive Master Plan for the Yabuli Sun Mountain Resort in Heilongjiang Province, China, one of Chinaès largest ski destinations. Located approximately 195 km north of Harbin and 120 km west of Mudanjiang, Yabuli is one of China’s largest ski destinations, having hosted significant events such as the 1996 Winter Asian Games and the 2009 Winter Universiade.

The initial phase of Ecosign's plan included constructing a two-section eight-passenger gondola, a six-person detachable grip chairlift, and several beginner moving carpet lifts, enhancing the existing ski infrastructure. The plan also called for expanding the ski trail systems and developing the base area, which featured single-family villas, three hotels, and a mountaintop restaurant with VIP suites. The first phase provides 2,100 beds and accommodates over 6,000 skiers daily, with a projected total of 9,220 beds and nearly 10,000 skiers at full build-out.

In 2019, Ecosign revisited the Yabuli region to assess existing facilities, recommend ski area improvements, identify new base areas, and propose four-season activities to attract both domestic and international visitors. Our expansion designs account for Yabuli Sun Mountain to expand by three times; several phases have been completed, solidifying Yabuli's status as a premier year-round destination.
