Marmot Basin Canada
Ecosign has worked extensively with Marmot Basin, a ski area located in Jasper National Park, Alberta, since its first Master Plan in 1981. The collaboration has involved multiple Master Plan updates, including significant revisions in 1986, 2003, and 2023, to ensure sustainable development within the park.
Ecosign’s services encompass Resort Master Planning, Ski Area Design, Four-Season Recreation Planning, Detailed Site Planning, and Resort Business Consulting.
In the 1994 Master Plan, Ecosign analyzed Marmot Basin’s mountain and base facilities, exploring options to expand the ski area further up the mountain and onto the northern "backside" within the Parks Canada boundary. Although the northern expansion proved impractical due to environmental constraints, Ecosign recommended upgrades to existing infrastructure, including replacing lifts, expanding parking lots, and renovating the Mountain Lodge to enhance guest capacity and experience.
More recent projects include grading plans for key lifts like the Canadian Rockies Express and the Knob Quad, as well as developing a long-range plan with Parks Canada in 2013. In 2023, Ecosign evaluated lands near Marmot Basin for potential tubing areas and parking expansion, contributing to the area's four-season recreation strategy. Ecosign’s long-term partnership with Marmot Basin ensures the resort’s growth aligns with both environmental sustainability and visitor needs.
