In 2000, Ecosign evaluated 40,000 km² of the North Caucasus to identify ideal sites for touristic development, leading to the Rosa Khutor project. Our Master Plans became the foundation for Russia's successful bid to host the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
In 2000, Ecosign evaluated the Caucasus Mountain Range to identify the best location for infrastructure and touristic facility investment. The study was conducted for Mr. Victor Khristenko, then Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federal Government. The study area was approximately 40,000 km2 of the North Caucuses, identifying the mountain village of Krasnaya Polyana and the Mzymta River Valley as the best sites for the Russian Federation to invest in for infrastructure and touristic facilities.
Ecosign was hired by Interros Holding Company, Moscow and associated with AMR Baugesellschaft GmbH to complete a Technical Assessment of the entire Mzymta River Valley, an area of 420 km2. The initial study identified seven different areas that could be developed for alpine skiing and snowboarding, with capacities ranging from 1,300 to 30,000 visitors at one time.
Commencing Phase One, Ecosign prepared concepts for three of the preferred areas. Interros decided to proceed with the development of the Rosa Khutor project and Ecosign was engaged to prepare a Master Plan of Psekhako Ridge.
In March 2005, the Russian Olympic Committee and the Federal Government requested Ecosign to prepare an assessment of the potential for an Official Bid for the Olympic Winter Games for 2014. Ecosign drew the plans, which became the basis for Russia’s successful bid for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.
