In 2019, Ecosign crafted a Master Plan for Icy Strait Point in Hoonah, Alaska, enhancing cruise ship access with gondolas linking docks to attractions. Recognized as Port of the Year in 2020, it celebrates Tlingit heritage and stunning landscapes.
In 2019, Ecosign prepared a comprehensive Master Plan for Icy Strait Point on Hoonah Island, Alaska. Our team specifically worked on Icy Strait Point's landing area and mountain top attraction for the cruise ship dock. Located in the panhandle of the southeast region of Alaska, Hoonah Island is located within region known as Icy Strait; Hoonah is the largest Tlingit village in the state.
Icy Strait Point includes two gondolas: a transportation gondola connecting the new dock and landing area to the original dock, with access to an historical cannery retail village 1 1/2 km away; and a second gondola moves visitors to a mountain top look-out area, suspension bridge, trail system and zip lines. Icy Strait Point was named Port of the Year in 2020 at the Seatrade Cruise Awards following the completion Ecosign’s Master Plan.
