Ecosign's 2007 Master Plan for Canyons Resort in Park City addressed skier flow, accessibility, and land development challenges, laying the groundwork for its merger with Park City Mountain Resort in 2015. The plan boosted connectivity, facilities, and cemented its premier ski destination status.
Ecosign was commissioned in 2007 to create a comprehensive Master Plan for Canyons Resort, located in Park City, Utah. The resort, which was developed from the former Park West/Wolf Mountain ski area and adjacent lands, faced several challenges related to skier flow, accessibility, and land development. A key concern was the remote parking situation, which required effective skier staging and flow management, particularly since much of the skiing was over a ridge from the base area.
Ecosign's analysis addressed these issues by planning for improved connections between the mountain and the base area. This included detailed planning and grading for the Orange Bubble lift, the Red Pine gondola, the Iron Mountain lift, and the Frostwood gondola, enhancing skier accessibility and convenience. Additionally, Ecosign facilitated the programming and siting of the Cloud 9 restaurant and contributed to renovations of the Red Pine Lodge Learning Center.
As development continued, Ecosign coordinated the golf course planning and the Canyons Village layout, ensuring seamless integration of skiing and recreational facilities. The Master Plan ultimately laid the foundation for the successful merger of Canyons Resort into the larger Park City Mountain Resort in 2015, enhancing its status as a premier ski destination.
