Alta Ski Area USA
Ecosign began working for Alta Ski Resort in Utah in 2001, starting with an evaluation of the potential benefits of a combined ski pass with neighbouring Snowbird Resort.
This analysis led to an agreement between the two resorts to offer a combined pass alongside their individual mountain pass options.
In 2002, Ecosign assisted in the design of the Collins lift, a two-stage detachable quad chairlift featuring an angled mid-station. The team determined the necessary lift capacity to align with trail usage and provided grading plans for all lift terminals, ensuring seamless construction.
Ecosign later focused on developing an administration and employee accommodation building at the Wildcat base area, offering concepts to guide the architect in detailed design prior to construction.
Further, Ecosign conducted a comprehensive inventory and analysis of the existing areas, generating Master Plan concepts for both mountain and base developments. Concepts included proposals for replacing existing lifts, exploring expansion into adjacent Grizzly Gulch, and redeveloping the Wildcat base to enhance skier services. Ecosign's involvement has continued with various smaller projects, including grading for parking expansions, upgrades to facilities, and an updated master plan submission for future development, ensuring Alta Ski Resort remains a premier destination.
"Ecosign has been a valuable resource for the Alta Ski Area. The collective knowledge that they can bring to a planning problem has always helped us. The size of Ecosign is comfortable for us – big enough to have all resources and small enough for a comfortable working relationship.”
