Ecosign has been involved in Panorama Mountain Resort's planning process since 1978, with our most recent Master Plan envisioning an expanded ski area, renovated village and enhanced four-season recreation. Key developments our work has informed over the years include the installation of new lifts and expansion of ski terrain, the facilitation of ski-in/ski-out access to the resort real estate and the connection between the day visitor parking and the snow front, as well as summer activities like golf, hiking, and biking.
Panorama Mountain Resort is located in the Kootenay Rockies Mountain Range, 20 km from the town of Invermere, Canada. The resort has been in operation since 1962, and Ecosign has been involved in the planning process since 1978, starting with the first client Cascade Group of Calgary. In 1993, Panorama was purchased by Intrawest Resorts and Ecosign’s Master Plan Update was completed in 1996. Work proceeded quickly on implementing the Master Plan, creating a resort village with ski-in/ski-out accommodation, upgrading the ski lifts and terrain and adding summer recreation activities in the base area and on the ski slopes, including the 18-hole championship Grey Wolf Golf Course. Other additional four season activities included lift serviced sightseeing, downhill mountain biking and hiking with use of the Mile 1 Express quadruple chairlift emanating from the village.
Ecosign has recently been working with the current ownership group to update the resort’s Master Plan; documenting the existing facilities and taking a fresh look at the vision for future developments. This Master Plan Update includes an increase in lift serviced ski terrain, new four-season recreation activities, a restaurant and learning centre in the Sun Bowl area, expansion of the resort village, infill accommodation and more workforce housing in the resort’s base. Since starting our work on the Master Plan Update, Panorama has installed the Wild Rider Mountain Coaster and the Timberline Traverse aerial ropes tower near the resort village centre, adding more attractions to its summer offering.
