Ecosign was hired by RealNZ as consultants to work on Cardrona Ski Resort in Wanaka, New Zealand. We reviewed their ski area design and assessed their current skier service needs to inform future planning. Our analysis optimized skier flow and infrastructure, ensuring a seamless guest experience by 2025.

This project was pivotal ... as it included plans for a new six-seat high-speed detachable ski lift in the expanded Soho Basin, which will add 150 ha of new intermediate and advanced terrain, positioning Cardrona as the largest ski area in New Zealand.

Ecosign conducted an in-depth analysis of skier circulation flows and capacity calculations to address various planning challenges. This thorough evaluation provided essential data and metrics that informed the development process, ensuring the resort's infrastructure aligns with the client’s vision and enhances overall guest experience.

Our consultation on Cardrona not only focused on the ski area design but also encompassed resort village design, facilitating a comprehensive approach to the resort's future development. Following Ecosign’s recommendations, the project has progressed significantly and is set to open in time for the 2025 ski season.
