Ecosign's Resort Area Master Plan for Mont Cascades Resort outlined a comprehensive vision for its renovation and expansion. This included eight ski lifts, a learning centre, various recreational activities, and a vibrant commercial village, enhancing both winter and summer experiences for visitors and residents.
Mont Cascades Resort is on the eastern shore of the Gatineau River in Quebec, Canada, approximately 20 minutes north of downtown Ottawa. In 2010, Ecosign prepared a Resort Area Master Plan that provides a definitive guideline for the continuing renovation and future development of the resort.
The ski resort will ultimately include a total of eight ski lifts, a learning centre with five moving carpets, and a pulse gondola/cabriolet to transport guests from the day skier centre at the base of the mountain to the upper accommodation area. At build out, these lifts will accommodate approximately 4,350 skiers per day and cover approximately 48 ha of ski trails.
A four-season recreation plan was included as part of the Resort Area Master Plan, aspiring to create a resort with full time residents and second homeowners, a new commercial village, and four-season recreational facilities. The Master Plan proposed an expansion of the ski terrain and a full summer recreation plan that would complement the existing water park.
Making use of the existing lift infrastructure, summer recreation amenities proposed include a summer luge track, downhill mountain biking, lift accessed hiking, sightseeing and evening access to the mountain top for dinners and events.
