Ecosign has contributed to the evolution of Canada Olympic Park's transformation from a 1988 Winter Olympics site into a hub for winter sports and recreation. Our ongoing work enhances both public enjoyment and elite athlete development, ensuring its world-class legacy.
Previously known as the Paskapoo Ski Hill, the existing public ski area was adapted to be the 1988 Winter Olympic venue for Nordic ski jumping, bobsleigh, luge, and freestyle skiing. Leading up to and after the Olympic Games, Ecosign has contributed to master planning, Olympic competition planning, and four-season recreation design for COP, frequently working in collaboration with Winsport (formerly the Canada Olympic Development Association).
Ecosign’s work includes the redevelopment of ski areas, expansion of mountain biking and tubing facilities, and detailed site planning for both public recreation and elite athlete training. In 2015, Ecosign proposed an expansion of tubing facilities, focusing on enhancing beginner areas and improving visitor flow. Additionally, Ecosign has worked on the renovation of the Frank King Day Lodge, originally built for the 1988 Olympics, assessing visitor capacity and recommending redevelopment strategies.
As part of its long-term involvement, Ecosign has continually evaluated COP’s terrain and infrastructure to support its legacy as a premier sports facility, maintaining its world-class status while generating revenue to sustain its operations and goals for community and elite sports development.
