Ecosign developed the Master Plan and detailed design for Bokwang Phoenix Park, the 2018 Winter Olympic freestyle venue. Our vision extended beyond the Games, aiming to create a thriving ski resort, leaving a lasting economic legacy.
Bokwang Phoenix Park was selected by the Pyeong Chang Organizing Committee and Gangwon Provincial Government as the 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic freestyle events venue. Bokwang Phoenix Park Resort (also known as Phoenix Snow Park, or Phoenix Pyeongchang) is located 50 km from Pyeongchang (population of 44,000), near Odaesan National Park. In addition to hosting the Winter Olympic freestyle events, the long-term goal for this location was to create a commercially and economically prosperous ski resort destination.
The Organizing Committee and Provincial Government anticipated the venues to be used for training and competitions, leaving a positive legacy post-Olympic Games.
Ecosign won the public tender against other international resort planning firms to prepare the Master Plan Concept for Bokwang Phoenix Park. The venue’s initial purpose was to be used for the Snowboard and Freestyle Olympic competitions. Another tender was won by us to provide the detailed design and engineering for construction of these competition venues.
