Nesfjellet Norway
Ecosign’s work with Nesfjellet began nearly three decades ago. Our work has integrated village design, lift planning, and land use planning to inform their comprehensive Resort Master Plan.
Ecosign’s involvement at Nesfjellet builds on initial outreach from local stakeholders nearly 30 years ago, when delegations visited Whistler and Sun Peaks to study how Ecosign shaped major alpine destinations. These early impressions helped inspire the resort’s long‑term development ambitions.
Formal planning work for Nesfjellet began in 2020 with a focus on creating a walkable, vibrant village core. As planning progressed, the scope expanded into a full mountain master plan addressing lift infrastructure, ski terrain, trail networks, and future guest‑facing amenities. By 2025, Ecosign preapred detailed concepts for Nesfjellet to present to municipal leaders, including proposals for hotels, commercial spaces, expanded ski terrain, and improved circulation systems designed to support year‑round activity.
The resort also marked a major milestone with the installation of Norway’s first 8‑pack detachable chairlift - a shift from the originally planned 6‑pack, reflected in early design documents.
Today, Ecosign continues its work alongside Nesfjellet to refine long‑term development strategies. Our planning approach ensures that Nesfjellet’s growth aligns with community goals while realizing a cohesive vision for a modern mountain destination.
