Niagara Tram Canada
Niagara Falls is located in southern Ontario, Canada, directly on the border with New York State. It is one of Canada’s top tourist destinations.
The “Falls Incline Railway” (originally known as the “Horseshoe Falls Incline”) is a funicular railway situated directly across Niagara’s Horseshoe Falls, approximately 1.5 km south of Clifton Hill, Niagara Fall’s major tourist promenade. The first version of the Falls Incline was built in the late 1960s for the Niagara Parks Commission by the Von Roll Company of Switzerland.
In 2012, National Parks Canada sent out a request for proposal for the Falls Incline to be replaced by a new railway system capable of operating year round between the viewing area of Table Rock and Fallsview Casino Resort. Since the funicular doubles as a tourist attraction and transportation method, the project had to include electronic ticketing options and turnstile recommendations. The project was completed in 2013, including modern enclosed cars suitable for all weather conditions, and the ability to handle the freezing mist that billows near the Falls during winter.
