Moléson sur Gruyères Switzerland
Ecosign was commissioned by Gratisa SA to develop a comprehensive Master Plan for the Moléson-sur-Gruyères ski resort in the Canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. From 2007 to 2013, Ecosign completed several key phases of planning, including Technical Assessments, Master Plan alternatives, and a study of potential connections to the neighboring resorts of Rathvel and Les Paccots.
The primary goal of the project was to create a vibrant, high-density village that would serve as the social and commercial centre of the resort, attracting visitors year-round. The village concept concentrated amenities within walking distance of the ski area, optimizing skier access while maintaining zoning boundaries. The plan proposed 375 residential units and 1,551 beds in the new development, with an additional 384 beds in an adjacent parcel.
In 2009, Ecosign explored the possibility of connecting Moléson-sur-Gruyères with Rathvel and Les Paccots. The connection concept envisioned 32 ski pistes and 2 skiways, covering 80.8 hectares with a combined slope length of 31.6 km. This expansion would support a total of 5,320 skiers, enhancing the regional tourism potential of the area. Ecosign’s master plan ultimately transformed Moléson-sur-Gruyères into a well-planned, interconnected, four-season resort.
