Sochi - Krasnaya Polyana, Russia
To Host The 2014 XXII Winter Olympic Games
Since 1975 Ecosign Mountain Resort Planners Ltd., of Whistler, Canada has designed over 260 major ski stations in 32 countries of the world. In the year 2000, Ecosign evaluated the potential of the Caucasus Mountains for the Federal Government of Russia. Ecosign recommended that the best potential for new development was in the Mzymta Valley area north of the city of Sochi, commonly referred to as Krasnaya Polyana. Ecosign prepared the Master Plan for the Rosa Khutor Mountain Resort for Interros Company and the Psekhako Ridge project for Gazprom. These two projects are currently under construction.
In 2005, Ecosign assisted the Head of the Federal Sport Agency and the Russian Olympic Committee in the evaluation of the potential of Sochi and Krasnaya Polyana to host the Olympic Winter Games. Ecosign's study and concept for the snow based Olympic venues led to the nomination of Sochi/Krasnaya Polyana to host the Olympic Winter Games in 2014. The International Olympic Committee elected Sochi as the host city for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games on July 4, 2007. CONGRATULATIONS SOCHI AND RUSSIA!
