Resort Planner

Emily Mann is a land use planner and village designer in Ecosign's base area planning division. Emily has a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Guelph and joined the Ecosign team in 2006. Prior to working with Ecosign, Emily has worked in Montreal as a Landscape Architect Intern for a firm that specialized in large scale urban parks and detailed landscape design. She was a member of the design team for an award winning park in Harbin, China along with other projects in the Quebec area. She has also had international experience working for a landscape architecture firm in Berlin, Germany.

Emily has been involved in several large scale resort planning projects in recent years as well as small scale detailed village design projects. As part of the Ecosign planning team, she led the base area analysis and village design work for the Komovi-Bjelasica Spatial Plan in Montenegro, an 87,000 hectare study area that included the conceptual resort design for five potential ski areas. Currently, Emily is leading the land use planning component of a large scale resort planning project in Kamchatka, Russia and is responsible for site inspection and land use planning of four study areas in this region. She has also recently completed a detailed design for a cross-country and biathlon competetion venue in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Southern Spain.

Emily has had experience as the lead designer of village redevelopment master plans for several resorts in Colorado and Utah including Breckenridge, Keystone, Telluride, Alta and Steamboat Springs. These complex projects have required resolution of transportation planning, urban design, staging analysis, pedestrian circulation and the client's objectives for attractive accommodation development. In addition to projects in North America, Emily has also collaborated on mountain resort planning projects in Japan, China, France, Switzerland, Italy, Norway, Serbia, Spain, Andorra, Russia and Georgia. These projects vary from large scale base area feasibility analyses to small single site redevelopment plans.

Emily has developed a passion for mountain resort culture over five years living in Whistler and brings this enthusiasm and energy to all of her resort planning projects.
